«But putting my elderly cat outside in freezing weather was the final straw.»<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within a month, they found another apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The day they left, the house felt strangely quiet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it also felt like mine again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pictures returned to the walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The furniture returned to its place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most importantly, Jasper returned to his favorite spot beside the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several months later, Ryan called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He admitted that he should have listened sooner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Living on their own had taught them lessons that my patience never could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, our relationship is much healthier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We still see each other regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helping family is an act of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Respecting the person who helps you is a responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And some boundaries should never be crossed\u2014especially when they involve a beloved old cat who only wanted a warm place to sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
